Since the HP100LX first appeared in the market, several users have complained of the lack of a date field in the NOTETAKER records (notes). While it is always possible to place the current date within a note with a couple of keystrokes, the date was usually in the format MM/DD/YY or the (more logical, to me at least <g>) European format DD/MM/YY. The problem with this was that if you wanted to sort your notes by their dates, a note dated 12/20/93 would be placed after 06/15/95 -unless you used the Japanese date format of YY/MM/DD.
A couple of days ago, I had the fortune of catching a message explaining a simple way to change a bit that allowed a NDB file to be read by the DATABASE app of a 200LX (sorry, I have not tested this on a 100LX, tho I assume that given that the files are identical, it will work on a 100LX too). I tried it manually and to my pleasure, I soon had a modified NDB template with a date field on it. Now I could sort by the age of the note first... Supposing there might be different needs to mine, I wrote this pair of small utilities that will do the dirty work with no effort.
